Editorial policy
Australian Motors publishes research to help people buy used cars with fewer surprises. These are the rules our writers and reviewers work to.
Who writes and who checks
Every vehicle page names its author and its technical reviewer, with the date each last looked at it. A page is not eligible for search indexing until it has a reviewer, cited sources and substantial original content. Automated data updates can refresh structured facts such as prices and recall check dates, but they cannot write or change editorial text.
Independence
We do not sell vehicles, carry listings or take payment from dealers or manufacturers. If we ever earn a referral fee from a linked service, that page will say so plainly at the point of the link.
Language
We write in plain Australian English for a first-time buyer. We say what we know, how we know it and what we don’t know. We don’t use superlatives we can’t back, we don’t invent testing we didn’t do, and we don’t quote mechanics or owners who don’t exist.
